A big Farewell to Charlotte

Charlotte Hall, one of Larne's most popular swimmers, competed in her last PTL for the club before heading down under.

Charlotte and her mum, Alison, an assistant teacher with LSC, will be greatly missed when they head off to Australia on Monday 9th January.

The swimmers and coaches alike will truly miss their loyalty, commitment and most of all, friendship when they leave but wish them well as they start their new venture in Oz.

We all hope that Charlotte will continue with her swimming and to develop to her full potential.

Best wishes to you both and a big word of thanks for all of the time and support you have given to the club. Don't forget us at Larne SC and keep us closely informed on your swimming Charlotte!!

Remember:- Ugi, Ugi, Ugi, Oi, Oi, Oi !!!!!!

PTL (Saturday 7th January 2006).

Larne - v - Templemore
Although depleted by a number of swimmers, Larne Swimming Club's PTL team was hailed victorious when it beat Templemore by 88 points in an exciting gala held at Larne Leisure Centre. The final score was Larne 611 - Templemore 523.
There were a number of PBs (51 in total) throughout the Groups but special congratulations must be given to the Group A swimmers who recorded 29 PBs out of 30 swims!!

Well done to all of the team.

Larne swimmer selected for national water polo academy

Larne Swimming Club member Nadia Traynor was selected for the Irish Water Polo Association's National Academy, which took place from 28th to 30th December, 2005 at Limerick's impressive 50m pool.

Nadia plays her water polo for Donegal Diamonds, and her Larne swim training was certainly beneficial during intensive pool sessions and land based circuit and flexibility training.

And, of course, when you travel to Limerick, you inevitably bump into Larne swimmers - Wilson Logan and Conor Leaney hard at work with the national squad!

European Short Course

Before Christmas Larne swimmer Jonathan Niblock took part in the European Short Course championships. In his own words:

"It was an entirely new experience which I very much enjoyed. While I was there I set two new personal best times and the Irish relay team of which I swam the third leg just missed the Irish Senior Record by 0.2 of a second in the mens 4*50m freestyle relay. In the same heat as our relay team was the Italians, Swedes, Brits and the Dutch and here I raced against Mark Foster, Lars Frolander and Filipo Magnini, all world champions in their respective events."

PBs, competing against Olympic swimmers...well Larne Swimming Club is getting on the map! Well done Jonathan!
